30 Aug Welcome To Conscious Pause
Have you ever had moments where you stop, perhaps ever so briefly, and wonder “how on earth did I get here”? Or find yourself thinking or making remarks at how quickly time is passing? Or even perhaps…like us, find yourself completely unable to continue at the pace or on the path of your current situation?
You are not alone, we promise. We both came to places in our lives that required a Conscious Pause: time to reflect, reset, rebalance. We both had different motivations, but the consequences could have been similar – breakdowns.
Did you know that many of us wear busyness as a badge of honor? I’m so busy, therefore I’m important and valuable…and worthy. In Daring Greatly, Brene Brown writes about numbing behaviors…armor against vulnerability. She clarifies that it isn’t only alcohol or drugs that numb us… “One of the most universal numbing strategies is what I call crazy-busy. We are a culture of people that have bought into the idea that if we stay busy enough, the truth of our lives won’t catch up with us.”
Conscious Pause was born after we braved our fears and took personal journeys of internal reflection. We found that when we came out the other side people in our circles were very curious as to how we made the decision to sabbatical, what we did, and how we came back to “reality” after our pause.
Could it be possible that this sounds a little familiar to you…to your soul? Might this be something that sparks some curiosity…perhaps you sense deep down that you require rest?
Join us. Let’s start a movement to “undo busyness”. Try a Conscious Pause. We are here to guide & encourage you.
